Status Theater or Real Review? Auditing a Friday Growth Meeting

MapmyIndia (CE Info Systems)

Objective: Given two transcript excerpts from a Friday experiment review, identify which one is a status-update trap and which one follows the learnings-focused format the lesson describes, and name the specific defects.

You're a growth analyst at MapmyIndia (CE Info Systems), the NSE-listed New Delhi geospatial company, sitting in on two versions of the same team's Friday review, recorded two months apart, to diagnose why shipped-experiment velocity hasn't moved despite the meeting still happening every week.

Read both transcript excerpts. For each, flag whether it matches the status-update trap or the learnings-focused format, and cite the specific lines that prove it.

Specimens to review

For each transcript, decide: status-update trap or learnings-focused review? Cite the specific evidence.

Sample output
TRANSCRIPT A (Week 6)
Facilitator: 'Okay, quick round-robin, what's running?'
Owner 1: 'Pricing page test is still live, no update yet.'
Owner 2: 'Onboarding email variant launched Tuesday, too early to call.'
Owner 3: 'Checkout test is paused, engineering bandwidth.'
Facilitator: 'Great, same time next week.'
[Meeting length: 9 minutes]

TRANSCRIPT B (Week 14)
Facilitator: 'Priya, you're up, one learning in under 5 minutes.'
Priya: 'The urgency banner on the pricing page lost. CTR was flat but refund requests rose 1.4x in the treatment. My read: the banner attracted price-sensitive users who weren't a fit.'
Facilitator: 'Is that a valid result, sample size?'
Owner 2: '3,200 per arm, powered for a 5% lift, we're confident in the read.'
Facilitator: 'What else might it tell us?'
Priya: 'Maybe urgency framing works for renewal, not new signup, worth a second test scoped to renewals.'
Facilitator: 'Where else should we apply it? Anyone else running urgency copy?'
Owner 3: 'The trial-expiry email uses similar language, we should hold off shipping that until we test the renewal angle.'
[Meeting length: 42 minutes, 3 experiments reviewed]

Specimen: synthetic, realistic

Final deliverable

A short write-up naming which transcript is which failure mode, with line-level citations for each defect found.

Sample output
MapmyIndia Growth Review Audit

Transcript A: STATUS-UPDATE TRAP
- No experiment reaches a decision (running/paused/too early, all deferred)
- 9 minutes for 3 experiments leaves no room for the 3-question sequence
- Meeting could be replaced by a dashboard link

Transcript B: LEARNINGS-FOCUSED REVIEW
- Each owner presents one learning, not a status
- Facilitator runs is-it-valid / what-else / where-else on every item
- Finding on the pricing banner changes a decision on a separate email campaign

Recommendation: replace the round-robin format with Priya's structure starting next Friday.

Success criteria

You're done when you can:

  • Correctly labels each transcript's failure mode or healthy pattern
  • Cites specific lines as evidence, not just a general impression
  • Identifies at least 3 of the 4 answer-key defects/patterns
