The $20/Day Split Test: Running Two Weeks of Snapchat and Pinterest

Casper Sleep

Objective: Practice the lesson's 14-day, $20/day split-test workflow across Snapchat and Pinterest, reacting to swipe-rate, CTR, and add-to-cart signals at three checkpoints without an ad account or real spend.

You're running paid social for Casper Sleep's new travel pillow line. You've allocated $20/day for 14 days, split $10 Snapchat / $10 Pinterest, to find which platform earns the next quarter's budget.

Read each checkpoint's dashboard, apply the lesson's swipe-rate and add-to-cart benchmarks, and decide whether to hold, adjust, or reallocate budget.

Day 3, first look

Day 3 of 14

Both campaigns have been live for three days with the single Snap Ad creative and the 3 Pinterest lifestyle images running untouched.

Sample output
Snapchat, 'Travel Pillow Launch'
  Spend $30.00
  Impressions 9,400
Swipe rate 84% (lesson benchmark: above 80% = creative isn't resonating)
  CPC $0.71

Pinterest, 3 lifestyle images
  Spend $30.00
  Clicks 210
  Add-to-cart 4
Spend to date:$60.00 of $280
Budget remaining:$220.00

Snapchat's swipe rate is 84%, above the lesson's 80% ceiling for 'creative isn't resonating.' What do you do on day 3?

Final deliverable

A day-by-day decision log across the 14-day test explaining what was changed at each checkpoint and why, plus a final budget-allocation recommendation for next quarter.

Sample output
Peloton, travel-accessory line, 14-day split test log (excerpt)

Day 3: Snap Ad swipe rate hit 82% (above 80% ceiling). Swapped to a phone-shot cut with a first-second hook.
Day 9: New Snap creative recovered to 38% swipe rate. Pinterest Image B (lifestyle-context) hit 5.9% add-to-cart vs. 1.1% and 2.8% for the other two; reallocated remaining Pinterest budget to Image B.
Day 14 result: Pinterest CPC $0.61 lower cost-per-add-to-cart than Snapchat's cost-per-swipe-through; recommend 70% of Q2 budget to Pinterest, 30% to Snapchat for retargeting.

Success criteria

You're done when you can:

  • Swaps the Snapchat creative at day 3 rather than waiting out a swipe rate above the 80% ceiling
  • Reallocates Pinterest budget to the clear add-to-cart winner at the day 9 checkpoint
