Dark Pattern or Honest Nudge? A Landing Page Teardown
Objective: Given three specimen landing-page snippets, decide for each one whether it is an honest application of a persuasion principle or a dark pattern that suppresses information System 2 would need, and name the specific defect if there is one.
You're a UX researcher doing a pre-launch content review for Rent the Runway, the Nasdaq-listed fashion rental company (NASDAQ: RENT), before a new checkout flow ships. Legal and growth disagree on three pieces of copy, your teardown settles it.
Read each specimen, decide honest nudge or dark pattern, and justify it against the lesson's 'would the customer still feel respected' test.
