The Ghost-Town Audit: Diagnosing a Dying Brand Server

Bansal Wire Industries

Objective: Given a snapshot of an underperforming brand Discord server, identify the structural and measurement defects that explain why a large server has gone quiet, and separate real defects from cosmetic non-issues.

You're auditing the distributor-and-dealer Discord server for Bansal Wire Industries, the Ghaziabad-headquartered steel wire manufacturer that IPO'd in 2024. The server has grown for a year but the sales team says nobody actually uses it.

Review three snapshots from the server's current state, flag every defect that explains the silence, and don't flag cosmetic details that only look wrong.

Before you start

What you'll need

Free path (everything below is enough to finish)

FreeLog every defect found across the three snapshots with severity and recommended fix

Free, sortable, easy to hand to the sales team as an action list

The process

Specimens to review

The server has 38 channels and steady member growth, but the sales team calls it dead. What's actually wrong here, and what would you cut or add first?

Sample output
Bansal Wire Distributor Hub, channel list (38 channels)
Categories: Welcome (3), Product Lines (14, one per wire gauge/coating spec), Regional (18, one per sales region), General (3)
Activity report: 31 of 38 channels have zero messages in the last 30 days. #general-chat has 4 messages this month, all from the same admin account posting price sheets.

Specimen: synthetic, realistic

Leadership sees this report and concludes the server is healthy. Are they right?

Sample output
Bansal Wire Distributor Hub, monthly leadership report (excerpt)
'Total server members: 6,140, up from 5,800 last month. Server growth remains strong and on track.'
No mention of weekly active members, message volume, or returning-participant rate anywhere in the report.

Specimen: synthetic, realistic

What single addition would most directly address the silence described by the sales team?

Sample output
Bansal Wire Distributor Hub, events calendar: empty for the past two quarters. The only pinned content across all channels is a static PDF price catalog updated quarterly. No AMAs, demos, or scheduled calls have ever been hosted in the server.

Specimen: synthetic, realistic

Final deliverable

A defect log for the Bansal Wire distributor server (channel count, bot coverage, reported metric, and live-event cadence), each defect scored by severity with a one-line fix.

Sample output
Zomato, delivery-partner Discord audit (excerpt)

DEFECT: 22 city channels launched at once, 18 silent
SEVERITY: critical
FIX: Consolidate into 4 regional channels; split further only once a region passes 50 weekly-active members

DEFECT: Report tracks total joins only
SEVERITY: critical
FIX: Add weekly-active and returning-participant columns to the monthly dashboard

Success criteria

You're done when you can:

  • Flags channel sprawl as the primary structural defect, not a secondary detail
  • Identifies total-member count as the wrong health metric
  • Correctly separates real defects from cosmetic distractors in all three items
