Which Chatbot Wins? Scoring Drift vs Intercom for Awfis Space Solutions

Awfis Space Solutions

Objective: Apply the lesson's feature comparison to score Drift vs Intercom against Awfis's actual needs (tour bookings plus member support) and defend the winner in one paragraph.

You're the growth marketer at Awfis Space Solutions, India's largest flexible workspace operator (200+ centres, 135,000+ seats), which IPO'd on the NSE and BSE in May 2024. Prospective members abandon the pricing page instead of booking a centre tour, and existing members email support with billing questions that take two days to answer.

Score both tools against Awfis's two real needs using the lesson's comparison table as your rubric, then write a one-paragraph recommendation defending the pick.

What you'll need

Free path (everything below is enough to finish)

FreeBuild and weight the scorecard

Free, and the scorecard itself is the deliverable, no chat tool access needed to run this exercise

Brevo(optional)
FreemiumStand-in for hands-on practice with a live, freemium chat widget

Neither Drift nor Intercom is individually cataloged in this site's tools directory; Brevo is the closest freemium tool here that ships live chat, use it to see a real chat-widget flow, then apply the scorecard logic to the real Drift and Intercom feature pages

The process

1 step

Step 01 of 01

Matching a conversational-marketing tool to its primary design purpose, not its feature list

The lesson frames Drift as a sales-acceleration tool built around one outcome (book a meeting fast) and Intercom as a full customer-communication platform covering sales, support, and lifecycle messaging in one contact database.

Awfis needs two things from a chat tool: (1) turn pricing-page visitors into booked centre tours, and (2) cut the 2-day email wait on existing-member billing questions. Weighting need (1) at 60% and need (2) at 40% since new-member acquisition matters more this quarter, which tool scores higher, and by how much?

Google Sheets— A weighted scorecard, criteria as rows, Drift and Intercom as columns.

Procedure

  1. List the lesson's comparison-table criteria relevant to Awfis: meeting booking in chat, ABM routing, support ticketing, proactive messaging, email automation
  2. Score each tool 1-5 per criterion using the lesson's Excellent/Good/Basic/Limited language as a guide (Excellent=5, Good=4, Basic or available via integration=2, Limited=1)
  3. Weight meeting-booking and ABM criteria toward the 60% tour-booking need, weight ticketing and messaging toward the 40% support need
  4. Sum the weighted scores per tool
  5. Note that this site's own tools directory doesn't catalog Drift or Intercom individually, flag that as a real-world gap in the free-tool path and name the closest cataloged stand-in
Sample output
WEIGHTED SCORECARD, Awfis Space Solutions

Criterion (weight) | Drift score | Intercom score
Meeting booking in chat (25%) | 5 | 3
ABM/account routing (20%) | 5 | 2
Support ticketing (25%) | 2 | 5
Proactive/behavioral messaging (15%) | 3 | 5
Email campaign automation (15%) | 2 | 5

Weighted total: Drift 3.55 / Intercom 3.90

Recommendation: Intercom wins by 0.35, close, but Awfis's 2-day support backlog is the more urgent fire, and Intercom's single contact database means a member's tour history is visible the moment they file a billing question.

Healthy

A close score with a stated reason for the tie-break, not just the highest raw number.

Unhealthy

Picking Drift by reflex because 'it's the sales tool and we do sales', ignoring the 40% weight on support.

What this means

When the weighted scores are close, the tie-break criterion (which need is more urgent right now) matters more than the tool's category reputation.

So what do I do about it?

Sample output
WEIGHTED SCORECARD, Utkarsh Small Finance Bank (loan pre-qualification chat)

Criterion (weight) | Drift | Intercom
Meeting/callback booking (35%) | 5 | 3
ABM/account routing (5%) | 4 | 1
Support ticketing (20%) | 2 | 5
Proactive messaging (20%) | 3 | 5
Email automation (20%) | 2 | 5

Weighted total: Drift 3.15 / Intercom 3.85

Recommendation: Intercom wins here, a loan applicant asking a billing question after disbursal needs the same contact record as the one who chatted pre-application, which only Intercom's unified database gives Utkarsh.

Success criteria

You're done when you can:

  • Scorecard weights criteria toward the stated business need, not equal weighting
  • Recommendation names a specific tie-break reason, not just the higher score
  • Flags the Drift/Intercom tools-directory gap and names the fallback path
